Rorschach Inkblot Test and Thematic Apperception Test

The thematic apperception test (TAG) – this is not showing
an abstract photo but a photo with something you can recognize. The story could
be linked to an emotion you are having. The more specific you are, the more
likely it is your story that you’ve told. Maybe you’ve gone through an
experience that made you think of a certain storyline.
The Rorschach inkblot test is an ambiguous stimulus. The
person is asked to report what they see. It is not a regular photo of a person,
but the idea is to come up with something from an abstract picture. The
response is possibly linked with the person’s inner thoughts, motivations or
their feelings that they may not be aware of.
Both tests have a common theme. They identify individual
differences.
This test could be influenced depending on where it is being
administered and how people assess the responses to the pictures. The comprehensive
system was created for the Rorschach inkblot test
Our group decided to see how different people could react to
both tests. We had three participants who had no knowledge of the test. We
showed them 10 photos, 5 from the TAG and 5 from the Rorschach inkblot test. We
observed their reactions and what they said.
After the end of the tests, we asked the participants if
they could relate to any of the photos. Two out of 3 participants admitted to
associating a photo with some part of their life.
